The key to your dream job or house is a thing called work ethic. If you’re not a hard worker then you are not going to achieve anything significant.
If you’re a YouTube creator, no one is going to go viral overnight without working hard for it. Post Malone, a 24-year-old hip-hop artist, for example, worked on his music for years before it was actually recognized.
During WWll, there was a man that was in love with creating. He was always drawing and soon started animating when he got older. At 18, he got a job as a commercial illustrator.
He created a company with his brother Roy called Disney Brothers Studios. Later, he went to create what we know today as The Walt Disney Company. Walt Disney is a big part in culture and animation history.
Walt Disney didn’t have it easy. He wasn’t from a wealthy family and pretty much had to work hard for everything he had. If he didn’t have a hard work ethic all these creations like Mickey Mouse wouldn’t exist.
Work ethic is something you have to get used to. It doesn’t happen overnight. Sometimes it takes years to see the results of having a work ethic. People like Walt Disney, Elon Musk, and Post Malone are all great exemplars for what it means to work hard.
Elon Musk is a good archetype for a hard worker. When he was twelve, he sold his first game called Blastar. He worked hard throughout school and eventually opened X.com which later became PayPal.
Just to show you how Elon’s work ethic has paid off; Musk sold Zip2 Corporation for $307 million dollars cash and $34 million in stock options. He also sold X.com to Ebay for $1.5 Billion in stock.
He achieved all these great things because of his obsession to computers and technology when he was a kid, and he had the work ethic to match the dreams he was chasing.
To be a hard worker, you need to meet two requirements: professionalism and management. You cannot just have one or the other; you have to have both.
A precedent of management would be Steve Jobs. You need to keep track of what you do and when you did it so that you can easily go back and reference or fix it if you need to. Imagine trying to meet phone deadlines or update releases without being able to manage your work operation.
Managing work really saves time and helps you get done with things as fast as possible. Releasing a new phone or new tech every year without knowing what’s going on or how you where going to achieve the goal, it would be chaos.
Being professional is another really important key to being a hard worker. The art of professionalism is one that you really need to learn and try to perfect. Do you think Jeff Bezos would have made a big company like Amazon without being professional at business meetings?
Being professional helps you get jobs, and build relationships with people high up on the social ladder. If there is a skill you need to learn, it’s definitely professionalism. Try going to a buyout meeting and not being professional. It’s not going to work.
Attributes such as management and professionalism will help with decisions and skill building traits. Disciple, orderliness, and of course work ethic is all apart of those traits.
Two decisions your going to have to make at some point is you work to live or live to work. Whatever lifestyle you live though, it’s still going to involve work ethic.
